CHOCOLATE CHIP SCONE

2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
3 Tbs. Sugar
1/ 2 stick butter
7 Tbs. Half and half
1 egg plus 1 extra yolk
2 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Extra sugar for sprinkling

 

In large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
 
 Cut butter into dry mixture with pastry blender or
 
 2 knives until mixture is about pea-sized bits.
 
In small bowl, mix, half and half, eggs, and vanilla.
 
 Pour liquids over the dry ingredients, and add choc chips.
 
 Stir mixture to form a dense dough.
 
 Knead 5 to 7 turns.
 
 Form into about a 5 inch plump ball.
 
 Place the ball on a greased and floured
 
baking sheet, and cut a shallow "X"
 
with a sharp knife on the top of the scone.
 
 Sprinkle with extra sugar.

Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes or

until scone turns golden brown.
