Griddle Cakes

Who doesn't love griddle cakes right off  the griddle? Slap some butter and syrup on them while still hot and let them melt in your mouth... Add a couple slices of bacon  or  sausage and wow, meal fit for a king  !!!
 

1/3 cups of all-purpose flour


2 tablespoons of sugar


3 teaspoons baking powder


3 tablespoons melted shortening or oil


1 egg


3/4 teaspoon salt


1 1/4 cups milk


Combine all the ingredients and mix them well. Lightly grease a skillet for first griddle cakes only. Fry them until they ar puffy and bubbly , turning to brown the other side.  Then serve them hot with butter and maple syrup. This recipe yields ten 6-inch griddle cakes.
