Greens and Ham Hocks Recipe       

 

2 smoked ham hocks
1 1/2 qts. water
4 lbs. fresh collard greens

1/4 cup sugar
salt and pepper to taste


Place ham hocks , sugar , salt and pepper in a Dutch oven. Add water, . Cook until ham hocks are tender.

Break stems off greens. Wash leaves thoroughly. Slice leaves into bite size pieces. Add greens and sugar to the ham hocks. Cook for about 40 minutes or until greens are done. Add more water if necessary.

I serve these with cornbread .. makes ya wanna slap your pappy :)
