Awesome Pound Cake

2 cups butter (1 pound), do not substitute


3 cups sugar

6 eggs


1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

4 cups cake flour


2/3 cup milk


confectioners sugar


Preheat oven to 350*. If you are using a dark colored fluted tube pan, reduce the oven temperature to 325*. Grease the tube pan. Cream together the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Add the vanilla. he total beating time is 10 minutes. Add the cake flour alternately with the milk. Beat well after each addition. Pour the batter into the well greased tube pan. Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes or until the cake tests done. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove from the pan and cool on the wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Note: The cake is best if covered and allowed to stand for 24 hours before servings.
