Quick and Easy Chocolate Brownies

 
1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup evaporated milk

1/4 cup butter or margarine; (1/2 stick)

8 oz. Hershey's® semi-sweet baking chocolate, broken into pieces
 
2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla extract

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp. each baking soda, salt

3/4 cup chopped nuts, optional
 

 
       Heat oven to 350ºF . 
 
 Grease 9x9" baking pan. 
 
 In medium saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk and butter. 
 
 Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils;
 remove from heat.
 
  Add chocolate, stirring until melted; beat in eggs and vanilla. 
 
 Stir in flour, baking soda, salt and nuts, if desired, until well blended. 
 
 Pour into prepared pan. 
 
Bake 30 - 35 minutes, or until brownies just begin to pull
 away from sides of pan.
 
  Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
 
  Cut into squares.
 
  Makes about 16 brownies.
