3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup vegetable shortening (Crisco® butter flavor)
2 cups eacch brown sugar, granulated sugar
4 large eggs
6 tsp. vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. each baking soda, baking powder
2 cups each oats; corn flakes, uncrushed
2 - 3 cups chips (12 - 18 oz.) [1 cup white chips/1 cup milk chocolate]
1 cup coconut, optional
1 cup pecans or walnuts, coarsely chopped

Heat oven to 350º. Mix flour, baking soda and baking powder in a bowl and set aside. Melt butter and shortening in a microwave oven until very soft. Cream in brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, 1/2 cup at a time. Mix in oats, cereal, chocolate chips, coconut (if using), and nuts one at a time. Drop ice cream scoop-sized dough onto a greased cookie sheet . Bake 12-15 minutes.
