1 cup granulated sugar, plus more to flatten cookies

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat egg and add butter, oil, 1 cup sugar and milk. Mix well. Add flour, baking soda, salt and vanilla. Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Dip bottom of drinking glass in sugar and press cookies flat. Bake about 8 minutes until light brown. Cookies freeze well in an airtight container.
